New York City is accurately described as a shopper’s paradise, as you really can buy everything here.  From computers and electronic equipments, to clothes of vibrant colors and fashionable styles, to food of every ethnicity, religious artifacts, unique or tacky souvenirs, jewelry, music, books, and antiques – New York has a store for nearly everything.

The city has jewelry stores, midtown department stores, tasteful designer shops, and of course, the very exclusive but notoriously pricey boutiques in Manhattan.  Shopping and entertainment delightfully interconnect in New York Manhattan, and there is no other city in the world with a wide assortment of stores in such a jam-packed space.

With the abundance, variety and uniqueness of retailers, shopping in New York Manhattan can possibly keep consumers busy for days. We’ll give you some ideas here – you’ve probably heard of all of these but nothing like a good reminder.

DEPARTMENT STORES

Long considered a fashion capital for shopaholics around the globe, almost every renowned world designer has a high-end designer boutique found in chic New York department stores.  Classic, as well as cutting-edge styles from famous designers and expensive labels like Chanel, Christian Dior, Valentino, Gucci, Calvin Klein, Betsey Johnson and Versace are available in the following upscale department stores:

Macy’s

Macy’s flagship store, famous for its mid-range prices, is situated in Herald Square at 34th Street and Broadway. It has 10 floors of merchandise, 2 of which is its shoe department which showcases a wide selection of trendy designer shoes and sports footwear. Beauty products, designer clothing for men and women are also available in the store’s stylish boutiques.

Bloomingdale’s

Bloomingdale’s is an iconic Manhattan department store that is offering a wide selection of clothing, designer handbags and shoes, swimsuits, as well as bridal collections for women of all ages, shapes and sizes. Located on Third Avenue, Bloomingdale’s also has a men’s department with a selection of suits from trendy to conservative styles, as well as designer brands and the store’s own label.

Its 10-floor building is an enormous retail shopping extravaganza, with each floor having a specialty section.  The bridal section is at the 8th floor featuring gowns from all over the world.  Whiffs of alluring fragrances and a slew of energetic salespeople populate the ground floor where the cosmetics and perfume department is located. You will find elegant designer boutiques like Escada and Chanel in other floors.

Barneys & Bergdorf Goodman

Located on Fifth Avenue, Barneys and Bergdorf Goodman are two luxury department stores which have similar class and elegance. Fashionistas flock these stores for men’s and women’s clothing brands from Ralph Lauren, Donna Karan and other top designers.
