In Japan there are two companies that stand out from the rest. They are Tiger and Zojirushi. Most Japanese people will tell you that these two firms are the most popular rice cooker brands. Indeed, the majority of Japanese households have one of these two sorts of rice cookers.
Japanese electronics manufacturers are of course famous all over the world for their high quality products. It comes as no surprise then that they produce the best rice cooking appliances in the world. In fact it is obvious when you think about it.
The Japanese have been eating rice as a major part of their diet for ages. So it is only natural that the electronics firms there have been able to produce some excellent products. There are other firms too, such as Sanyo, Panasonic, Toshiba and Hitachi that also make these appliances.
For me, I prefer the styling of Zojirushi over Tiger. Also the first rice cooker I got was a Zojirushi 3 cup machine and have only owned their products since. So admittedly I am biased! But the fact remains that the rice that their machines can make tastes excellent. It comes out light and fluffy and is a joy to eat.
Also their devices are so easy to use. There is hardly any cooking to do at all, the machine takes care of everything for you. All you have to do is measure out then wash your rice before letting the rice cooker take over. Then after it has finished cooking you have to clean it up. Their simplicity and ease of use is another reason why I love Zojirushi.
