Smokey eye makeup can make one’s eyes look striking and mysterious. It makes a woman have a chic and sexy appearance. A smokey eye technique makes the eyelid and the brow bone very dark and high-lighted.

In this article, I will focus on hazel eyes. All you will need are small and medium eye shadow brushes, eyelash curls, mascara, eye shadows and eyeliner pencils and voila, you could have that smokey eye look. Here are the basic techniques on how to do a smokey eye for hazel eyes.
The first step to do is to apply a shadow primer (or foundation base) to keep your eye shadow from fading. A shadow primer will hide all the imperfections of the skin such as blemishes, thus creating a smooth canvass.
Next step is to create a neutral canvass in your eyes by sweeping cream or flesh-toned shadow on both of your eyelids from lash line to brow bone. This can be done by the use of the medium eye shadow brush.
The third step is to line the upper and lower lash line of your eyes by using black or dark brown eye liner pencil. Then, apply the eyeliner to the water line of the eye or the bottom eyelash line. It is better to use dark brown eyeliner instead of black for the hazel eyes. You must not use liquid eyeliner because you need to have a soft finish and not sharp lines. It is also important to know that dark eye shadow colors can make small eyes look even smaller. You can make your eyes look bigger by applying the eyeliner starting from the middle of the bottom eyelash line towards the outer part of the eye.
Fourth step is to apply lighter grey shadow on both eyelids by using the medium eye shadow brush. Then, apply the darker grey eye shadow by using a small eye shadow brush onto the lashline then upwards towards the crease. Make sure that you apply darker eye shadow color along the lashline and on the outer corner of the eye.
Lastly, curl the eyelashes then apply 2 to 3 coats of mascara.
The secret for perfect smokey eyes for hazel eyes will depend on the eye shadow color that you will have to use. Black or grey are the traditional makeup colors however, it is good to play with different colors but keep in mind it must go well with the eye color, hair color and skin tone and not from the clothes you wear. It should have a darker and lighter color but remember that the two colors should complement with each other.
