I bought the Hemnes wardrobe on April of this year while I was moving back into my house after it had been renovated following a fire. I bought this particular item because money was a bit tight and nothing else that I saw in other stores was small enough to fit in the space that I wanted to put the wardrobe in.

I had also noticed that other stores that I had been to (Roomstore, Haverty’s, etc) had wardrobes that were very expensive but didn’t have a lot of storage space relative to the size of the wardrobe. The Hemnes actually had a decent amount of storage space without taking up too much room, and I felt that I could anticipate the quality of the item as I have experience in buying Ikea products in the past.

I know from past experience that doors and joints tend to not hold up very well, so I used super glue on the wooden pegs while putting the Hemnes together. That really took care of what I really disliked about Ikea products and the wardrobe has held up these past several months without the need for additional gluing.

What I like about the Hemnes is the fact that it looks nice and doesn’t take up too much space.

As I have some tight spaces in my home, the dimensions of all of my furniture pieces matter a great deal. With this item, I don’t have the annoyance of the doors blocking an area or making it difficult for two people to move around in the room at the same time.

I also like that the boards of the wardrobe are reasonably thin so as to allow for more storage space.

It was really strange to me how other wardrobes that were larger than the Hemnes seemed to have less storage space than it. I don’t buy furniture just to show off and I would prefer it to be practical rather than really pretty.

So, the Hemnes is certainly not as attractive an item as other wardrobes but it does look reasonably nice and is very practical.

The main problem that I would have had with this item, namely that Ikea products tend to loosen over time, was dealt with when I used super glue to put it together, so I really have no gripes about the Hemnes.
