More currently though, technology has been introduced to rice cookers known as “Fuzzy Logic” which does more than just boil water and is programmed to first soak the rice, and then monitor how the rice is cooking during the entire cooking process by making slight adjustments in cooking time and water temperature.
The results are fantastic with above standard quality rice that seems impossible to achieve when cooking on a stove top or in a basic rice cooker…especially when cooking brown rice. So, now that folks know what a fuzzy logic rice cooker is, the question remains; which are the top two brands & models worth considering?
#1 Sanyo Rice Cookers
Probably one of the best choices when wanting diverse benefits along with the ability to cook high quality rice dishes.
Most Sanyo fuzzy logic rice cookers offer the user several common rice types to select from which include white rice and brown rice along with some others such as sushi, mixed, and sprouted brown.
Popular cup sizes offered are 3 cup, 5.5 cup, and large 10 cup capacity models. Aboard models like the ECJ-HC100S and ECJ-PX50S come both slow cooking and vegetable steaming options which make these units multi-tasking kitchen appliances and more than just a simple rice cooker. They remain budget friendly, perform well, have quality built parts, and earn a majority of positive customer reviews on authority sites such as Amazon and ebay.
#2 Zojirushi Rice Cookers
Zojirushi manufactures some of the most top quality fuzzy logic rice cookers in the industry. Now whether or not they are the pioneers of this rice monitoring technology is unclear, but do expect some of the best textured and healthiest white and brown rice dishes when selecting a Zojirushi.
Like Sanyo, Zojirushi puts out 3 cup, 5.5 cup, and 10 cup units…most which utilize fuzzy logic and also offer several onboard specific rice selections.
Some models use an additional rice cooking method called “GABA” which soaks the rice for an extra 2 hours before starting the pressure cooking process. This GABA option is equipped only on a few of their units and is reserved for brown rice cooking only.
The only con about Zojirushi rice cookers is that some models can be very expensive, more specifically the units that offer the GABA cooking method mentioned
above, and do not offer folks any other additional benefits like food steaming or slow cooking as with some Sanyo models.
But don’t count them out as they remain one of the best electric rice cookers on the market and are great for those who plan on using them daily and who enjoy eating several rice types. For folks who can do without the extra steaming and slow cooking bells & whistles, a Zojirushi rice cooker is a fine choice.
